Laick Design recently completed the new website for the Christian W. Klay Winery located in Chalk Hill in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. The new website replaces the old site which had many outdated features. The client wanted a cleaner, easier to update and visually appealing site.

On this new site we were able to meet and accomplish all of their goals as well as adding functionality that they previously had not had on the site such as online ticket sales for their various paid events.

With the design of the site, we incorporated a video using drone footage for the intro of the site showcasing Christian W. Klay Winery and their sister company Rum Runner Distillery. The rest of the homepage focuses on their history and info about the Klay family.

The interactive slide out menu features information on their events, their award winning wines, photos and how to contact the winery for weddings and other special events.

One large difference between the old site and the new design is that the site keeps the same visual appearance as their brochures allowing for a white wood grain texture on the pages of the site. The white wood grain texture is meant to resemble the main barn that you would see upon entering the winery. The wine and gold colors resemble their signature colors used throughout the property but also on their wine bottles.

As mentioned above, we added the option for users to purchase tickets online for their special paid events such as Women & Wine, Wine Stock and the Chili Festival. Visitors can purchase tickets to these events online before the event sells out. Also as an option is the ability to purchase wine online if you are a resident outside of the state of Pennsylvania.

The last item we fixed on this site was the website URL. In the past the domain name that Christian W. Klay Winery used was a bit awkward. We changed it to something easier for users to access. Check out the new website for the winery at: https://christianklaywinery.com
