Alan Laick is the Creative Director and founder of Laick Design, a comprehensive visual communications company located in Southwestern Pennsylvania. He is an alumnus of Waynesburg College as well as Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC).
Alan started Laick Design immediately upon graduation and has had a career that spans over 25 years. With a strong background in all aspects of graphic design and web development, his work has been recognized through numerous awards, magazines and newspapers across the United States.
In 2012, Alan was recognized by Westmoreland County Community College as a Distinguished Alumnus and spoke at the commencement ceremony that May.
In 2014, Alan returned to the Pittsburgh airwaves with segments on the Your American Story program airing on 1020 AM KDKA.
He participates in many technological, educational, and community based organizations throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. Alan served four years as President of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce (2010-2014) and served as a board member for 15 years. He has also served as the President of the Uniontown-Chestnut Ridge Rotary Club (2013-2015 term) and is a Paul Harris Fellow (2009). Alan is currently a board member of the Westmoreland County Community College Educational Foundation and a co-founder of the Westmoreland County Veterans of the War on Terror. Furthermore, he is an active member of the following organizations: The Pittsburgh Build Guild, The Greene County Tourist Promotion Agency, The Marcellus Shale Coalition, The Mon River Valley Coalition, The Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame, The National Association of Photoshop Professionals and The Graphic Arts Guild.
Furthermore, Alan has been a featured presenter and speaker, discussing his career and various industry topics at Alderson Broaddus University, Carnegie Mellon University, Fairmont State University, Waynesburg University and Westmoreland County Community College.
In 2023, Alan became the Department Chair of the Westmoreland County Community College Graphic Communication Department and changed the curriculum to align with the skills needed for the design market. His impact at the College was immediate as his students were recognized in 2023 and 2024, along with four other higher educational institutions, for their work on the 250th anniversary of Pennsylvania competition.
